Interior with Flowers

A bouquet dominates the room. Pierre Bonnard painted Interior with Flowers so that the blossoms press close to the viewer, their petals built from layered strokes of coral, cream and deep rose that hold the light like velvet against a darker interior. Behind the flowers, a domestic room dissolves into pattern. A table edge tilts, wallpaper and window light merge into patches of violet and ochre, and the whole surface hums with the loose, saturated brushwork that made Bonnard the great painter of French interiors. Nothing is sharp; everything glows. Made for a dining room, a sunroom or any corner that could use dense color and quiet domestic warmth.
