A gravel path bends through clipped greenery as two figures stroll past the clipped geometry of a formal French garden, one parasol held against the afternoon light. Somov paints Versailles the way a flaneur remembers it: hedgerows in layered viridian, a fountain basin catching pale sky, distant statuary reduced to soft grey punctuation.
