Terracotta rooftops and pale stone walls step down a dry hillside in Houses in Provence, a southern French village scene by Stefan Popescu. Ochre facades hold the late light while cool shadows pool in doorways and under the eaves. Short, loaded brushstrokes stack the curved tiles course by course, and one dark cypress breaks the long line of the ridge. Dry summer grass runs to gold between the houses and the sky.
