Himalayas

Peaks rise in tiers of cobalt and white, the subject Nicholas Roerich returned to across decades of Himalayan work. Light sits on the summits like frost, and the valleys below hold a deep, unbroken blue. Tempera-like flatness gives the slopes their clean geometry. Shadows fall hard against snowfields, and the sky reads almost as solid pigment, layered in bands from violet to pale zenith blue. Small dark forms, pine or rock, anchor the scale of the range. A quiet study or hallway with cool light would let these cold colors carry the wall.
