Himalayas

Snow summits in Nicholas Roerich Himalayas press against a sky so saturated it reads almost as solid pigment, cobalt deepening toward the upper edge of the sheet. Below, glaciers and ridgelines narrow into pale wedges of light. Tempera gives the snowfields a chalky, dry matte surface, while the shadows hold cold violet and slate. Roerich flattens the massif into bands of color, letting the white peaks carry all the geometry. No figures, no architecture, only altitude rendered as pure color. It suits a study or reading nook, somewhere quiet enough to sit with a landscape this austere and absorbing.
