Himalayas

Ridges climb beyond ridges until the eye runs out of distance. Nicholas Roerich titled this work simply Himalayas, and the mountain range fills the whole field with cold, ascending geometry. Tempera in layered blues carries the peaks, deep cobalt shading into pale, almost white slopes near the summits. Roerich favored this powdery surface, dragging light pigment across dark ground so snow seems embedded in rock rather than painted on top. No trees, no paths, only altitude. Hang it where you want quiet on the walls: a study, a hallway that needs depth, a reading corner facing north light.
