Himalayas

Snow summits rise in stacked ranges, peak behind peak, until the farthest dissolve into sky of the same blue. Himalayas by Nicholas Roerich records that high-altitude hush. Tempera gives the surface its chalky, matte finish, color laid in flat bands with almost no blending. Violet shadow settles into the couloirs, white summits carry a breath of pink along the ridgelines, and a foreground slope of raw brown earth keeps everything anchored. It belongs in a study or a quiet stairwell landing, somewhere the eye can travel far and the room around it stays still.
