Himalayas

Snow ridges step down the canvas in bands of violet and blue, each fold of the range catching a thin line of light along its spine. Nicholas Roerich painted the Himalayas as pure geometry of stone and sky. Cold cobalt settles into the valleys while the upper peaks hold a pale, milky whiteness that seems lit from within. The brushwork runs broad and flat, tempera-thin, so the mountains read as carved planes rather than atmosphere. Above them the sky deepens toward indigo, unbroken by cloud. A long hallway or high-ceilinged study gives a range like this the distance it asks for, drawing the eye upward the way a real pass does.
