Himalayas

Peaks rise in graduated tiers of cobalt and violet, the nearest slopes saturated while the far summits dissolve into pale, cold haze. This is Nicholas Roerich at his most ascetic: the Himalayas reduced to pure geometry of snow and altitude. Tempera gives the surface a matte, powdery finish, so the white summits read almost as bone or salt rather than snow. Thin, deliberate brushstrokes follow the ridgelines downhill, and the sky above burns a single unmodulated ultramarine, flat as enamel. Nothing clutters the composition. No figures, no buildings, only air thinning toward the edge of the visible world. A study wall, a quiet reading nook, or an entryway hung where morning light can meet that cold blue.
