Himalayan Landscape

Mountains gather at the head of the picture, their summits cooled to white while the lower slopes hold Roerich deep, cold blue. Himalayan Landscape compresses the whole range into a single quiet view. Ice fields catch the last light, ridgelines drawn in one clean stroke. Below, foothills in violet and slate step down toward a plain left almost bare, a few strokes of ochre suggesting ground and distance. The tempera surface reads matte and chalky, pigment laid thin so the blue seems to glow from under the layer rather than sit on top. Suited to a study or a hallway where the day ends quietly, this range horizon keeps its calm through any hour.
