Autumn crowds the window frame in Herbstimpression durchs Fenster. Cuno Amiet lets the season press right up to the glass, branches heavy with rust and gold filling the view from inside. The panes catch slanting light. Foliage breaks into loose strokes of burnt orange, ocher, and olive, with patches of pale sky showing through thinning leaves. The mullion cuts a dark vertical across the color, and the sill anchors the composition with a band of cooler shadow. Everything reads as rapid, confident brushwork, paint laid thick where the sun strikes.
