Scythes lean against a stubbled field while harvest workers take their midday break in Daniel Sherrin's Harvesters at Rest. A hay wagon and distant tree line settle the composition into the Kentish countryside. Golden ochre dominates the standing corn, broken by blue smocks and the cool shade under an elm. Sherrin loads the canvas with texture: short dabs for cut straw, broader sweeps across a summer sky going soft at the horizon. Figures cluster around jugs and bread, faces turned from the sun.
