Három Vitorlás 1930

Three sailboats lean hard into the wind, hulls tilted, sails full. Három Vitorlás by Scheiber Hugó turns a simple regatta into pure Hungarian modernist energy. Triangular sails in chalk white and burnt ochre cut across water built from layered cobalt, teal, and slate. The composition tilts with interwar avant garde dynamism, brushstrokes driving diagonally toward the horizon. Flat color bands meet dark contour lines, giving the sea a crisp, cut-paper edge. A stairwell, a coastal living room, or a study with good afternoon light gives these heeling boats the wall of water they demand.
