Guru Guri Dhar

A sacred Himalayan summit fills the horizon in Guru Guri Dhar, Nicholas Roerich painting the holy peak as a single unwavering mass of light and stone. The mountain rises in bands of cobalt and deep ultramarine, snowfields reading as pure white against ridgelines shaded toward violet. Below, a bare foreground of ochre earth holds a tiny figure or shrine, dwarfed by the mass above. Roerich tempers the cold blues with warm mineral pigment, so the air itself seems to glow at the snowline. A quiet presence for a study or reading room, where a horizon of high altitude belongs.
