Grove on the Seashore. Sillamyagi

A grove crowds down to the shoreline at Sillamyagi, trees leaning toward open water in one of Konstantin Somov most atmospheric landscapes. Trunks rise in muted umber and grey green, their canopies thinned by sea wind so the horizon shows through in slivers of pale blue. Somov paints the Baltic light with restraint, silvered leaf, a shadowed path winding into the wood, and a strip of shore left almost bare. The brushwork stays delicate and close, more drawing than flourish, giving every branch its own weight. It suits a quiet study or a hallway that needs depth and northern calm.
