Gathering Clouds

Clouds pile in pewter tiers across the upper half of Gathering Clouds, Benjamin Brown giving the storm itself the lead role while a narrow band of sunlit ground waits below. Slate and oyster grays sink to violet where the masses hang lowest, each cumulus built from broad, loaded brushstrokes that keep their ridges. Below, dry grass in ochre and olive bends under a wind you can almost hear, and a pale break of light opens at the horizon.
