Sunlight scatters through leafy branches over a Hartford garden in this loose, buoyant study by William James Glackens, where flower beds, lawn, and summer shade share one bright plot. Petal pink and white blossom dots the beds, laid in short, loaded strokes against deep sap green. Cool shadow pools under the trees while warm light breaks along a path, the brushwork quick and creamy, every leaf given its own note of pigment.
