Funeral Symphony (II)

Dark processional forms cross a dim plain under a brooding sky, the subject Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis set down in Funeral Symphony (II). Nothing here settles. The land itself seems to march. Deep greens and charcoal blues pool across the ground while pale, lantern-like shapes hover above the horizon, reading as distant bells or drifting souls. The handling stays soft and grainy, contour dissolving into atmosphere the way a dirge dissolves into silence. Rhythm does the work: repeated mounds, repeated lights, a cadence you feel before you name it. A reading room, a music corner, a hallway that deserves a long look. Anywhere quiet enough to listen with the eyes.
