Forest Vista

Tree trunks rise in ranks across the picture, dark verticals against a clearing that glows pale green at the horizon. Forest Vista sets its viewer low among the undergrowth, looking through rather than at the woods. Popescu works the foliage in short loaded strokes, olive over sap green, with cool blue shadow pooled where the canopy thins. Birch bark reads as quick pale slashes. The depth is built layer by layer, near trunks in deep umber, distant ones fading to a hazy mint that dissolves into open sky. A study, a sunroom, any quiet corner with morning light will carry it well.
