Forest Morning Sun

A fir-clad slope catches the first light of day. Forest (Morning sun) by Johann Walter shows a stand of trees opening onto a clearing where the dawn light spills through the trunks. Walter builds the scene in layered greens: deep pine shadow gives way to moss, sap-green foliage, and thin shafts of gold cutting between the branches. The sky holds a pale wash of morning haze, and the forest floor reads in cool, damp browns. Brushwork in the canopy is loose and quick, while the lit trunks carry finer, deliberate strokes. Suited to a study, a hallway beside a window, or any quiet corner that deserves the hush of early woodland light.
