Föhnstimmung (Zürichsee)

A pale sun swells above the Zürichsee while haze softens every far shore into lavender and grey. Föhnstimmung, Cuno Amiet, records that wind-borne stillness just before the weather turns. Warm ochre and rose wash the foreground hills, their contours loosened by scumbled color and quick, open brushwork. Water carries diluted violet and green toward the horizon. Figures on the far bank shrink into the milky air. Hang it where daylight shifts through the day. A hallway, a quiet reading corner, or a study facing west gives the haze room to breathe.
