Fisherman

A lone fisherman stands at the water edge, rod bent against the pull of a catch. Nikolay Bogdanov-Belsky paints him in the realist manner, every worn sleeve and wet boot rendered with patient care. Grey-green water fills the lower half, broken by ripples where the line enters. Soft daylight washes the bank behind him, birch trunks pale against a muted sky.
