First Snow

Snow muffles a village lane in Pyotr Konchalovsky First Snow, rooftops whitening under a grey sky while bare birches hold the last of autumn along the fence line. Konchalovsky builds the scene in loaded, deliberate brushwork: lead-grey sky pressed against mauve snow shadows, ochre log walls still warm beneath fresh white, dark birch trunks cutting verticals through the hush.
