Figuras a Cinco Colores

Five schematic figures hold the field, stacked and interlocked like a coded alphabet drawn in flat planes of red, yellow, blue, green, and black. Figuras a Cinco Colores belongs to Joaquin Torres Garcia and his constructive language of signs. Torres Garcia grids the surface into compartments, each figure reduced to blocky torso, hooked limbs, and schematic head, the way pictographs sit inside stone or tile. The color is laid in unmodulated gouache flatness, edges crisp as inlaid enamel, no shading anywhere to soften the geometry. Sun symbols and fish-like shapes echo the figure rows. It suits a study or a hallway with white walls, where the black grid lines and primary color fields can carry the whole view.
