Fig Trees, Antibes

Fig trees anchor the foreground, their leaves cut in thick olive strokes against a southern sky. This Guy Rose canvas sets the grove above the coastline at Antibes, where California light meets the Riviera. Pale trunks lean in pairs, silvery grey where sun strikes the bark. Below, shade pools blue-violet beneath the canopy, and glimpses of sea flicker between branches in thin bands of turquoise. Rose loads his greens warm, yellow-olive at the edges, cooler where foliage turns from the light. Suited to a sunlit breakfast room or a quiet reading corner, this reproduction brings Mediterranean warmth to any interior.
