Fasor Házakkal

A tree-lined avenue runs straight through Fasor Házakkal, houses flanking both sides like figures at a street theatre. Scheiber Hugó sets the whole scene down in flat, confident planes of color. Look at how the foliage is built: rows of rounded green masses stacked one above another, each row a slightly different shade, so the trees read as a woven hedge rather than individual trunks. Below them the rooftops sit in blocks of terracotta and grey, windows punched through as small dark rectangles, the street itself reduced to a pale band between the two ranks of buildings. Hung in an entryway or above a hallway table, the avenue pulls the eye straight down its length and out the far end of the room.
