Farmyard at La Percaillerie (Normandy)

Chickens scratch across a dirt yard while timber farm buildings lean in behind, rooftops rendered in muted slates and rusts. This Normandy farmyard scene belongs to Albert Marquet, painted with the restraint that set him apart among Fauve contemporaries.
