Farm Montcorin

Farm Montcorin rises through Suzanne Valadon, the painting built from her blunt, muscular brushwork. Rooftops and stone outbuildings sit among fields rendered in ochre, moss green, and slate, each stroke laid on thick and left alone. Valadon drew for years before she painted, and that draughtsman hand shows in the firm outlines around every barn and fence line. Shadowed greens carry the foreground while pale light breaks across the rooftops. A country kitchen or a study with linen curtains would suit its plain, honest presence.
