Farm in Normandy

A thatched farmhouse squats low against the Norman sky, its roofline softened by moss and weather. Gustave Loiseau paints Farm in Normandy as a working place, not a postcard: gates, outbuildings, churned ground. Look at the brushwork. Short, thick strokes build the cottage walls in ochre and cream, while the roof thatch breaks into dabs of umber and gold. Behind it, apple trees lean at crooked Normandy angles, and a fence of grey timber zigzags across the yard. The sky churns above in Loiseau's signature crosshatching, white and pearl over a pale blue wash. Built for a kitchen table, a reading nook, or a hallway that needs countryside air without the cliché.
