Evening sky

Banded clouds carry the final rose light across a darkening horizon in Evening sky, a dusk study by Max Pietschmann where nearly the whole field belongs to the heavens. Amber and apricot burn along the lowest cloud banks while violet and slate blue settle overhead, the oil dragged in long horizontal strokes so each streak reads as wind. A thin strip of land sits almost black below, flat and silent under all that color. A quiet study, a hallway that holds the last sun, or a bedroom dressed in linen and shadow gives a twilight image like this its calmest company.
