Evening

Low amber sun sinks behind a black line of poplars, and the whole field goes copper. Konchalovsky paints that exact minute in Evening, when day gives up without a fight. Broad strokes drag burnt sienna and rose madder across the sky while the ground below settles into bruised violet shadow. A rutted lane and low haystacks catch the last sideways light. Contours thicken, edges soften, and the loaded brushwork itself seems to hold warmth.
