Eglise de Mimizan

A village church in Mimizan rises above low rooftops, its tower caught in the pale light of the Landes coast. Theodor Pallady painted the Eglise de Mimizan as a study in quiet southern weather. Brushwork moves fast and dry across the sky, thin washes of grey blue sliding over warmer patches where sun has broken through. The church itself holds the composition, a block of muted stone with dark windows punched into its face, while cypress and pine crowd the lower edge in deep green. A hallway or stairwell with plain plaster walls would suit it well, letting the soft coastal palette carry the space without competition.
