Edelweiss in Brown Vase

Edelweiss blooms sit gathered in a brown vase in this still life by Romanian painter Constantin Artachino. The flowers pale, downy heads crowd above the vessels rounded shoulder, their soft grey white set against earthy depths. The vase itself carries a warm clay brown, glazed to a low sheen where light from one side slides across the curve. Stems bend at uneven angles, some leaning out past the rim, and the background stays loose and dark so the blossoms hold their own quiet glow.
