Dwie łodzie żaglowe

Two sailboats ride a pale sea in Dwie łodzie żaglowe. Ferdynand Ruszczyc gives each hull a dark, deliberate weight against water that barely ripples. The sails read as flat, chalky panels, their edges drawn in confident strokes of lead white over cooler blue-grey. Ruszczyc works the sea in short horizontal pulls, wet paint dragged across wet paint, so the surface keeps a matte, almost tempera dryness. Sky and water nearly merge where the horizon thins to a single faint line. Suited to a coastal hallway or a quiet study with linen curtains and weathered wood, where the sea light can carry the room.
