Docked Ship

A hull rests against the quay, ropes slung from bow to bollard in Nicolae Vermont Docked Ship. Water laps the pilings beneath. Vermont paints the vessel close up, where tarred planking meets reflected light. Masts cross the sky in dark diagonals, rigging drawn thin and exact. Grey/green water carries the mirrored hull in broken strokes, while dock workers and crates give the quay its working rhythm. Muted blues, umber, and silvered light set the register. A natural anchor for a study, hallway, or reading room with a maritime or coastal leaning.
