Delphinium and Rose

A tall spire of delphinium rises beside a single blown rose, the pairing typical of Pyotr Konchalovsky and his devotion to garden still life. Cobalt and violet petals stack up the stem in loaded, separate strokes, each little bloom dabbed wet into wet. The crimson flower opens wide at the left, loosening to pink at the outer edges, while leafy greens sweep through the middle ground. A sunroom, breakfast nook, or kitchen shelf suits it well; anywhere fresh stems come and go and something blue would be welcome year round.
