Defender. Cloud-archer

An archer takes form inside the storm bank, bow bent, arrow nocked against the ridge. Nicholas Roerich named the subject Defender. Cloud-archer, a guardian assembled out of weather. Ultramarine shadow pools between the peaks while snow ridges hold a hard, cold light. The cloud mass thickens into shoulders, a drawn limb, the curve of a bow, so figure and sky share one outline. Below, the valley sits dark and patient. A study or reading room suits the deep blues here; the guardian rewards long looking once the lamp is low and the house has gone quiet.
