Daybreak at Niitakayam

Niitakayama rises into first light, its summit ridge turning rose gold while the valleys below still hold their night blue. Fujishima Takeji built Daybreak at Niitakayam around that single moment of ignition. Painted with Western oil technique, the surface carries broad loaded strokes across the massif and dry dragged pigment over the snowfields. Violet shadow climbs the eastern face while a pale sea of cloud breaks against the flanks, and the sky grades from apricot into cold grey green. Hang it where morning reads well: a study facing east, a stair landing, or a reading nook that needs one cold, high horizon above the desk.
