Circles within circles. Koloman Moser built this Daghestan rug design for Backhausen as a field of linked bubbles, each ring enclosing smaller rings like ripples frozen mid-spread. The drawing reads as a textile cartoon: geometric medallions arranged in strict rows, their outlines filled with madder red, indigo, and ivory. Moser distills Caucasian knot-weave logic into clean Viennese line, so every bubble sits both soft and architectural. A study or hallway takes it well, where the repeating geometry can breathe against plain plaster and pale wood.
