Csendélet

A still life built from hard edges and flat planes of color: fruit, a vessel, a folded cloth, each shape pressed against the next. Csendélet, Scheiber Hugó, is a Hungarian modernist arrangement where form does the talking. The palette runs through deep cobalt and burnt orange, cut by blocks of black that anchor the composition. Contours are thick and deliberate, the brushwork visible in every outline. Objects tilt and crowd together, refusing the tidy order of a conventional table scene. It belongs in a dining room or a study, where the saturated color reads clearly against plain plaster or pale wood.
