Crimea. Gazebo

A vine-tied pavilion sits half-lost in rose thickets, its lattice striped with hot southern light. Pyotr Konchalovsky painted Crimea. Gazebo as a doorway straight into high summer. Cypress spires press against a bleached afternoon sky while rose canes scramble over the arbor roof. The oil lies thick and dragged, greens laid on in slabs, post impressionist brushwork at its most physical. A wedge of blue sea flickers between leaves. It suits a sunroom or a stair landing best, anywhere the walls could use midsummer shade and a long look toward the sea.
