Crimea. Blooming Peach Tree

Pink blossom smothers every branch of the peach tree, white and rose against a hard blue sky. Pyotr Konchalovsky titled it simply for the place, Crimea, and the southern light does the rest. The trunk leans dark and knotted, built from heavy strokes of umber and ochre. Petals sit on the surface in ridged dabs of cream and shell pink, oil pushed thick enough to cast shadow, while grass below runs olive and the sky deepens to violet at its edges. A sunroom or bright kitchen suits it well, and a hallway with morning light would catch the same springtime charge. April, any month you choose.
