Creation of the World XII

Dark peaks rise from a sea of stars. Creation of the World XII shows Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis imagining the first moments of cosmos, land and light still taking shape under a hovering glow. Black mountains cut across the lower half in layered silhouettes, their ridgelines softened by deep blue haze. Above them, small luminous points scatter like sparks through violet air, and a pale radiance gathers at the upper edge where sky meets void. Thin washes of tempera-like pigment leave the ground showing through, so light and dark breathe against each other across the whole composition. It belongs in a study or reading room, anywhere quiet enough to sit and stare upward for a while.
