Creation of the World IX

A radiant egg splits open against black, releasing the first light. Creation of the World IX by Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis renders genesis as a single luminous act. Fiery rays fan from the cracked shell, gold and vermilion curling into deep indigo night. Celestial bodies drift in the darkness above, planets suspended like seeds waiting for orbit. The surface has the grain of tempera on paper, thin layered color over dark ground, each arc of light swept in with deliberate brushwork. Hung in a study or reading nook, it turns any quiet corner into a threshold where the universe begins.
