Color Perspective

Color splits into planes and slides forward from the surface. Color Perspective by Jacques Villon stacks its bands of hue in receding layers, each tone doing the work that a drawn line would do in a lesser hand. Warm ochre and vermilion sit up front; cobalt and slate greens retreat behind them, the intervals between planes held by crisp crosshatched edges. The eye reads depth as pure chroma, cubist logic translated into color alone. Nothing here is outline first; everything is hue behaving as space. Suited to a study or a hallway where light shifts across the day, letting those layered tones do their quiet optical work.
