Clovers

Clover leaves spread across the page in soft greens, a woman leaning among them with the easy grace Raphael Kirchner gave all his subjects. This reproduction captures his turn-of-the-century Viennese charm in fine detail. Delicate crosshatching outlines each trefoil stem, while washes of rose and sage fill the figure in the manner of his celebrated color lithographic postcards. Look closely and the paper texture shows through, the way original chromolithography allowed. Kirchner drew with a light hand, and here every curve of leaf and lock of hair reads clearly. Hang it in a boudoir, dressing room, or quiet reading nook where its gentle Belle Epoque spirit can breathe.
