A rocky promontory juts into restless Breton waters in Cliffs near Camaret, Georges Lacombe. Carved in painted relief, the coastline reads as sculpture: angular stone faces, deep grooves, and a sea rendered in sweeping blue-green planes that catch light along every ridge. Lacombe worked with the Nabis, shaping landscape into simplified, almost architectural forms. Pines lean from the summit, their dark needles cut sharp against a pale sky. Salt-bleached rock, mossy shadow, and the cold Atlantic fill the frame edge to edge. A study, hallway, or coastal sitting room gains a point of gravity from this rugged view.
