Cliffs at Cape Frehel

Heather and wind-flattened grass run to the crumbling lip of ochre sandstone in Cliffs at Cape Frehel, the Breton coast as Gustave Loiseau saw it, stroke by quick stroke. Below, the sea churns pewter grey at the rock base, foam dragged on in thick white strokes. Short hatches of violet moorland sit over deeper green, gorse yellow flickers through the turf, and the sky scuds with loose diagonal cloud. Gulls ride the updraft, small dark ticks against the light. Give it a stairway, a hallway, or a study with a north window, any room that suits the salt wind and open horizon of that exposed headland.
