Church of the Exaltation of the Cross in Irkutsk

A many-domed Siberian church rises above low rooftops, its patterned walls drawn in fine ink lines by Eugene Lanceray. The scene belongs to Irkutsk, seen with a draftsman eye. Lanceray renders the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross in confident penwork: barred windows, corbelled cornices, curved gables with stepped edges, onion domes set on slender drums. Hatching builds shadow along the facades while the sky stays open and pale. Small figures and fences anchor the foreground. Suits a study, hallway, or reading nook where architectural subjects and city views hold their own against bookshelves and plain walls.
