Charming little landscape

Sheep settle into the grass along a low Dutch horizon, heads down, wool catching flat silver light. Charming little landscape finds Arnold Marc Gorter at his most unhurried. Thin oil paint sits close to the surface, greyed greens and pearl whites worked in short, even strokes. Cloud banks press down gently while a narrow canal threads dark water through the pasture. Nothing is dramatized; the charm comes from restraint, from weather recorded honestly. Hang it where mornings are slow: a study corner, a reading nook, above a hallway console. Small scenes reward close looking the way small rooms reward quiet.
